Caller ID service company Truecaller has introduced a new feature to protect users from spam and scam calls that use AI-generated voices. The “AI Call Scanner” helps detect authentic human voices versus sneaky AI-generated scam calls in real-time.
Truecaller’s advanced AI voice detection technology can identify if the person on the other end is a human or an AI-generated call. This real-time detection gives users immediate feedback on the caller’s legitimacy, helping them avoid potential scams and fraud.
“With AI Call Scanner, Truecaller is not just stepping up call security; we’re transforming it. Join us on this journey to make communication smarter, safer, and more efficient. Secure your calls, find peace of mind, and keep moving forward with confidence,” the company announced in a blog post.
How To Use AI Call Scanner
- Upgrade to the Latest Version: First, update to Truecaller version 14.6 on Android. This feature is part of the Truecaller Premium plan and comes with a free trial.
- Set Truecaller as Your Default Calling App: Make Truecaller your default calling app. Once done, the ‘AI Call Scanner’ button will be ready for use.
- Start AI Detection: During a call, if you are suspicious or uncertain about the caller, tap the “Start AI Detection” button to begin the identification process.
- AI Analyzes the Call: The call will be briefly put on hold while the AI analyzes the voice without interrupting your conversation.
- Receive Real-Time Feedback: The AI will display an “Analyzing…” message and then show either ‘Human Detected’ or ‘AI Voice Detected.

The AI Call Scanner feature is currently available in the U.S. on Android and will be rolled out to other countries soon. Truecaller is also working to launch this feature for iOS.
